Western Sicily

Western Sicily

Although less treasure-packed than the island’s baroque south east, western Sicily has its own attractions, not least the miles of sandy beaches around Mazara del Vallo, at Porto Palo and around Menfi, which also happens to be one of Sicily’s leading wine-growing areas. The region is also home to one of the island’s top golf courses at Sciacca.

Local cultural attractions include the extraordinarily beautiful temples at Selinunte and the UNESCO World Heritage Valley of the Temples at Agrigento.

Get a bigger picture of the island by combining the west with the baroque riches of the Noto Valley or the timeless beauty of Syracuse in the east.
