The secrets of the Neapolitan cuisine revealed in 5 tasty stops

As everywhere in Italy, the Amalfi Coast also offers a superlative cuisine to say the least. There is much to see and taste, from olive and citrus groves to cliff-hanging vineyards, passing through the organic farms producing mozzarella and restaurants with jaw-dropping vistas. In addition, they are all ingredients featuring high in the Mediterranean Diet, so why not indulge in some guilt-free gluttony?

Here are five tasty stops where you will be able to taste farm-to-table food seasoned with the finest olive oil and accompanied by fine wines.


 

Wine Pairing and Cellar Visit at the Cantine Marisa Cuomo

Exposed to the sun and the sea of the Amalfi Coast, the Cantine Marisa Cuomo boasts one of the world's most beautiful winescape! 

In this corner of paradise, as splendid as it is tiring to work, Marisa Cuomo and Andrea Ferraiolo manage, with their children, 20 hectares of vineyard with a geometric layout dominating the Fiordo di Furore.

The tour starts with a short intro video and then proceeds to the wine cellar and the vineyards, where you will be guided through the various phases of winemaking.
 
The tour ends at the Osteria di Bacco, just a few minutes walk from the winery. There is a choice of 5 menus of 3 and 4-course meals with a glass of wine paired with each course. The whole experience costs around 85 euro.

Provolone Cheese and Mozzarella Fiordilatte 

The Turuziello farm is a small family-run establishment where the passion for authentic and genuine flavours is handed down from generation to generation. The farm produces the Provolone del Monaco Dop, semi-hard cheese with a spun paste, and the Mozzarella Fiordilatte made entirely with the milk of their own livestock which is fed on a first rate and certified diet.

The Turuziello farm extends over 2000 sqm of land and includes cultivation of olive trees and a small 18th-century citrus grove. 

Benedetto and Lucio are the Cheesemasters who will be showing you the art of cheese making after a tasting session of olive oil and all things lemon, from Lemoncello liqueur to lemon cake, lemon marmalade and fresh iced lemonade.

For 25 euro, you get to spend two enjoyable hours acquiring interesting insights on how good food should taste and be made.

Olive Oil Tasting

The Gargiulo family has been producing olive oil for almost two centuries, tourists, enthusiasts and the curious can visit the ancient oil mill located on the Sorrento hills among olive groves and breathtaking panoramas.

A pleasant and delicious experience that is divided into 4 phases: the visit of the olive grove during which the cultivation and harvesting techniques are illustrated, the visit to the old oil mill, the visit to the modern oil mill and finally, the more appetizing part, the oil tasting technique.

A healthy slice of bread with extra virgin olive oil and a taste of various spices, truffle and mushroom flavoured oils.

Ice cream classes

Watch how to make ice cream and then eat it ... This is not a real school but a demonstration followed by a tasting. The experience lasts about 45 minutes during which Mario explains the various ingredients and techniques used to come up with an ad hoc artisan ice cream. It costs 15 euro per person and it's available daily upon reservation.
