Venice and Lake Garda with the Orient Express

Make your holiday in northern Italy even more special by including 24 hours of indulgence on the legendary Venice Simplon Orient Express. Stay in Venice and on the shores of Lake Garda, then travel back in style on Europe’s most glamorous train.

Day 1: Venice

Fly to Venice where you will stay at the Corte di Gabriela , just moments from the city’s top sights. Here, there are the eleven suites housed in a 19th building overlooking the canals of the San Marco district. The court is the meeting point for guests who stop here for an aperitif under the pergola or for breakfast. The hotel is often chosen for its tranquility, location and its staff going above and beyond in a genuine fashion.

Day 3: Transfer to Lake Garda

Pick up a hire car and transfer to the Villa Cordevigo, a 5-star luxury wine resort in the heart of the Bardolino vineyards. Surrounded by gorgeous gardens, the 12-room hotel has a pool, Michelin-starred restaurant, spa and the option of wine tasting and cellar visits. Several of the suites have private terraces.

Day 8: Depart from Verona on the iconic Venice Simplon Orient Express

Leave the car at Verona rail station to start your once-in-a-lifetime journey on the Venice Simplon Orient Express. The historic 1920’s art-deco style train departs from Verona at lunchtime, passing through Innsbruck and arriving at Paris Gare de l’Est soon after breakfast on the following morning.

Linger over leisurely meals and watch a moving backdrop of lakes, mountains and vineyard-carpeted landscapes through the windows of the magnificent vintage carriages. At night, cabins are converted to bedrooms, each with a washbasin cabinet with hot and cold water, and soft fluffy towels. Meals include an excellent three-course lunch in one of the restaurant cars, afternoon tea in your cabin and a leisurely four-course dinner.

Day 9: Arrive in Paris

In Paris, you have the option of continuing your journey on the Orient Express, with travel on the Belmond British Pullman train from Folkestone, or transferring to Eurostar for the remainder of the journey to London.

Please note that you can also start your Venice Simplon Orient Express in Venice. Travel on the VSOE is either to or from Italy (Verona/Venice).
