Park Hotel Villa Belvedere

Set on the hillside above the charming lakeside town of Cannobio, the three-star hotel attracts as much praise for its service as its lush 12,000m² landscaped garden. Three generations of the Arbetella family lovingly run this traditional hotel with a touch of contemporary and overwhelmingly relaxed.

Outside, pathways bordered by clipped hedges wind their way amongst wisteria draped pergolas, azaleas, roses and citrus trees, in gardens dotted with loungers, benches and hammocks. Surrounded by palm trees, the pool area has a Jacuzzi and large sun terraces.

Additional services include complimentary bike hire which is ideal for cycling the riverside cycle path to the Orrido di Sant’Anna rocky gorge.
  • Swimming pool with Jacuzzi pool at one end
  • Wi-Fi
  • Hammocks, sunbeds and benches in the gardens
  • Bicycles available
  • Golf course on site or nearby

The Mediterranean style rooms – wooden or terracotta flooring, pristine white bathrooms and terraces or balconies with lake views – are warm and welcoming, with abstract art on the walls. Superior rooms have whirlpool tubs. The two-floor apartments in the Rustico building, and the La Casetta stone house, are ideal for families, with a fully-equipped kitchen and private garden.

There is no restaurant service for dinner.
Other Restaurant Nearby
Only a 10-minute stroll, the car-free waterfront of Cannobio offers many options.

The hotel's restaurant recommendations are excellent, we tried Gourmet al Lago run by dynamic duo Angela and Mirco. During our visit we were amazed by the veal shank on saffron rice.

The hotel is a ten minute stroll to the lakefront town of Cannobio, a traditional and pretty town which has retained its charm without becoming overly touristy. Stroll along the lake front, amongst pastel-hued houses and wander through the narrow streets and alleyways of the historic centre.

Hop on and off ferries to explore other locations along the lake. Top spot are the gardens and villas on the Borromeo Islands and, in particular, Isola Bella, home to the baroque villa and gardens of the 17th century Palazzo Borromeo.

Stresa is an elegant town on the western side of the lake, with attractive gardens and villas. From here, you can take a cable car up to Monte Mottarone for the best lake and mountain views.

There are numerous options for walkers and more serious hikers, with a good choice of trails such as those in the Valle Maggia and, for experienced hikers, the Val Grande National Park.

One should not miss travlling on the Centovalli railway connecting Locarno with Domodossola through beautiful mountain ranges and many scenic valleys and deep gorges. Tip - do the trip over two or three days and hop off in one of the towns in Vall Vigezzo and the Ticino canton.

Other popular options include trips to Lake Orta and the island of San Giulio. Milan, just 120km away, is great add-ons if you are considering a twin-centre holiday.
