Tenuta Santa Tecla

Get back to nature on a hideaway organic farm just outside Acireale, at the foot of the slopes to Mount Etna. Run by owners Angela and Fabio with a distinctly personal touch, the emphasis at the Tenuta Santa Tecla is very much on de-stressing.

Vast Mediterranean-scented gardens and terraces look out across citrus groves and apricots trees to the Ionian Sea yet the estate’s proximity to the S114 road that links Catania and Taormina make this a great spot for exploring some of Sicily’s top spots.

The flower-filled garden is dissected by winding pathways with different areas devoted to a citrus grove, organic vegetable garden, mini-botanical garden and, for children, a playground and small farm area with Tibetan goats, donkeys, hens, geese and other small animals.

The fabulous infinity pool (22sqm) is surrounded by a sundeck with plenty of sunbeds and overlooked by a terrace with sea views.

For dinner, there is a good choice of restaurants, trattorie and pizzerias in nearby Santa Tecla and Acireale.

Other facilities available include a wellness centre with a steam room and massage treatments.

Other Restaurant Nearby
You should be prepared to hop on the car to Acireale (10 minutes). Recommended restaurants include Ristorante Acquapazza and the Pizzeria La Solitaria, about 30 minute away in Catania the Michelin-starred Sapio.

The Agriturismo is situated to the north of Acireale on Sicily’s Cyclops Riviera. The fashionable Taormina with its Greek amphitheatre of Taormina is only 45 km to the north, and Catania slightly nearer heading south.

Explore the authentic villages built in black lava-stone on the vine-covered slopes of Mount Etna or head further inland to the towns of Caltagirone and Piazza Armerina. Syracuse is just over an hour away.

Family Fun: Sicily's Adventure Parks

Family Fun: Sicily's Adventure Parks

The adventure parks in Sicily are aimed at those who want to "have outdoor fun" immersed in greenery, experiencing the thrill of climbing and challenging the force of gravity.

They consist of routes suspended between tall trees or between rocks where, with different levels of difficulty (suitable for both children and adult), action takes place under the careful control and assistance of qualified personnel.

Adventure parks equip their users with safety devices generally used by mountaineers (harnesses, carabiners, pulleys) to reduce the risk of injury to zero.
