Umbria

Hotels in Umbria

Although landlocked Umbria does not have the big crowd pleaser attractions of neighbouring Tuscany, its hill top towns more than match up. The historic centres of the most popular towns – Perugia, Orvieto, Todi, Spoleto, Norcia and Assisi – each lure their visitors in with at least one exceptional attraction: the Basilica di San Francesco in the case of Assisi, or the Duomo at Orvieto.

Their relative proximity to each other makes visiting one or two towns a day perfectly manageable but it is worth remembering that the smaller towns such as Montefalco and Spello also hold their own particular appeal.

Umbria is also the place for foodies, with truffles, hams and cheeses taking centre stage.
